BLE Lock Control with FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air)

Brief description:

  • We developed a cutting-edge Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) lock control system using the nRF53 chip from Nordic Semiconductor. This project focused on delivering secure and flexible firmware updates, ensuring that the lock control firmware remains robust, up-to-date, and protected from unauthorized modifications.

BLE Lock Control with FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air)

Key features

  • Zephyr MCUBoot Bootloader & SMP Protocol: Leveraged the Zephyr RTOS ecosystem to implement secure bootloading, enabling reliable firmware updates over BLE or UART.

  • FOTA & Serial Updates: Enabled dual-update channels—over-the-air using BLE, or via a UART serial interface—providing maximum flexibility for field upgrades.

  • Secure Firmware Handling:Incorporated firmware image signature and encryption to prevent tampering, along with downgrade protection and the option to roll back to the last known stable firmware.
